Christmas Decorations

I don’t know about you but I love decorating for the holiday season! I tend to change things up every year just slightly. However, I have slowly switched from a rustic, neutral Christmas to buffalo check red Christmas to now a boho, pink and gold Christmas. My artistic side of my brain just can’t do the same theme more than a few years in a row. Each year, I don’t have a ton of room in my budget to completely start over from scratch. So, here are a few ways I decorated this year with the items that I already have on hand.

I know I was just talking about budgeting. But, last year I finally got rid of our 6 ft tree we had had for over 7 years. We splurged and got a new tree. We ordered this one on Walmart.com. It was a great price and it’s beautiful! Like I said, I keep re-using my ornaments from past years. I mix homemade and sentimental ornaments with newer, prettier ornaments. Non of my ornaments on my tree are glass right now because I have a toddler. Maybe one day I’ll get a few more newer ornaments.

Another way I decorated my tree this year was adding velvet ribbon. I tied bows last year. This year I decided to keep the ribbon long. I love how it turned out!

In order to switch things up without splurging, I also thrifted a few items this year. How cute is this Christmas platter and little Santa?! To me, it’s so worth checking out your local thrift store to see if there are any gems. I also found holiday books for my toddler and a cuuuute ‘Night Before Christmas’ book.

For my mantle, I just go full on maximalist here. I take most of the garland that I own and put it all on the mantle! I love this layered look so much. I keep command hooks on the top of my mantel so it’s an easy hang up. This way I can also switch the garland between holidays easily.

In the kitchen this year, I decided to add a hot chocolate basket to my coffee bar and a garland. I want to eventually get more holiday mugs to only use during the holidays. These two will have to work for now!
