Hospital Bag- Round Two
As a second time mom, I have waited until the last minute to pack my hospital bag. Something about knowing that it’s okay if you don’t have it all together before the baby gets here is comforting. But also has been a bit of a crutch for me this time around. As I slid into week 36, I finally packed my bag for the hospital! While I don’t think that my bag this time around differs that much from my first, I do think I’m packing a little less than I did the first time. I think this list includes a lot of the basic necessities that you’ll need for the hospital!
Frida Mom kit
The frida mom kit was seriously a lifesaver! It had all I needed in one place. It even comes in a convenient caddy. Just place it in your bathroom for an easy access. I am planning on taking the peri bottle, a few ice pads and a pair of the disposable underwear the hospital. I will most likely keep the rest for when I get home. For all the Mamas who deliver via c-section, frida mom also has a c-section recovery kit that I have linked here!
Tucks Pads
This item is not glamorous at all. However, tucks pads were so needed in the weeks after postpartum for recovery. I ran out of the ones that the hospital provided. So, I am bringing some extra with me just in case.
Postpartum Diapers
While they do provide lovely mesh undies at the hospital, these postpartum diapers are MUST! These lovely diapers are comfortable and somewhat discreet.
Big sister gift
Since my daughter will be becoming a big sister, I am excited to do a little gift exchange between her and her brother. I got her this little gift as something “from her brother.” I am hoping to do the gift exchange in the hospital. So, I tossed her gift in my bag.
Wireless breast pump: Nullie
I don’t know what my breastfeeding journey will look like this time around. Last time it was a bit rocky. This time I am prepped with a new hand-held manual pump as well as a wireless pump. I am excited to try this one from Nullie out! It is a lot less costly than some of the other brands. I already tested it a little bit and it was easy to use + comfy!
Travel Size Toiletries
Packing travel size toiletries will help save you time if you are in a hurry like we were on the way to the hospital. I went ahead and grabbed a pack of toothbrushes, travel size toothpaste, body wash and shampoo and face wash. That way it’s ready to go.
Lounge Set
After you deliver you will want to change into something more comfortable. I love this lounge set when I’m not pregnant. While it’s not made for postpartum specifically, it’s a button up so it’s nursing friendly as well. I am planning on tossing this on after birth along with a robe. I may bring my slippers with me as well. We shall see! I just want to be comfortable and if there are any photo opportunities, I want to be ready. For on the on way home, I am keeping it simple and I have packed a thin sweatshirt + flare leggings.
I hope this list helps inspire you and get you started on what all you need to pack! Packing for the hospital can seem overwhelming. However, keeping it simple and remembering that the hospital does provide quite a bit, it’s helpful!
